About the Book
An Artist Book based on the traditional Polish calendar Kalendarz Zdzierak, documenting world events from January 1 – December 31, 2021 through curated news headlines from different parts of the world; continuation of the global COVID-19 pandemic, introduction to new vocabulary, social changing behavior and growing uncertainty. In traditional Kalendarz Zdzierak, pages are removed day by day as the year progresses. VADEMECUM 2021 is deliberately created in an opposite manner, where each day is added to the book, new information introduced and documented. Each day added is a gift, especially living in this unprecedented moment of our history.

Born in Warsaw, Poland Ania Gilmore received her BFA with honors in Graphic Design from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, studied printmaking, book art and fibers at RISD, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Maine. Gilmore worked as an independent curator in the US and internationally. She exhibited in Gallery Nori in Jeju Island, Korea; Hangaram Art Museum, Bojagi Forum, Chojun Textile & Quilt Art Museum in Seoul, Korea; From Lausanne to Beijing International Fiber Art Biennale at the Tsinghua University Art Museum in Beijing, China; New Bedford Art Museum, MA; and Fuller Craft Museum in Brocton, MA. Her work was featured in Art New England, Woodstock, Fiber Art Now, Artscope, The Collection of Polish Book Art from the 20th to the 21st Century (Japan), Artistry in Fiber: Wearable Art (A. Lee, A. Rooney), 1,000 Artists’ Books: Exploring the Book as Art (P., D. Thomas), and The Creators of the Image of Polonia (Poland).
