    About the Book

    Edit

Vanyo Martial Arts gym teaches Tae Kwon Do, kick boxing, and Jiu Jitsu.

Vanyo’s is just not a “gym,” it is a family. For over two years, I have been watching my kids four to five nights a week perform their Tae Kwon Do classes. It makes me happy to see the benefits my kids have acquired from martial arts. My son, at the age of nine, got bullied at school and as a result it affected his grades. Master Vanyo and his gym has given my son, now 11 years old, the confidence he needed. He no longer gets bullied and is doing great in school and has many friends. They are not just learning a physical sport, but respect for themselves and for others. The instructors are not afraid to discipline, and stress the importance of respect, honesty and dignity. The white uniform represents equality. Everyone in the gym is equal, no matter who you are, where you come from, what background you have.

    Ohio

Katy Hinchliffe was born in Lima, Peru and moved to the United States in 1989. On her 12th birthday, she received money as a present from her parents which she used to buy her first camera. She still has the camera to this day. That’s when her love for photography began. She discovered that she can make a career out of photography from her high school guidance counselor and instantly knew that’s what she wanted to accomplish. She attended Tom’s River Vocational School in New Jersey for Commercial Photography and learned to process film in the darkroom. In October, 2014 Katy and her family moved to Brunswick, Ohio. A year later she started her own business as an Industrial Photographer and started attending Cuyahoga Community College at the same time. She is in pursuit of the Visual Communication & Design-Photography degree. She is happily married to her husband David Hinchliffe, with two kids, and a bratty dog by the name of Otto.
