The book #Laulupidu 2017 illustrates "behind the scenes" moments in 350 photos taken during the XII Estonian Youth Song and Dance Celebration week. Latvian photographer Mārtiņš Kālis, who has performed similar photography projects in Latvia, believes that the true essence of Song and Dance Celebrations can be experienced only among the participants during everyday rehearsals, living at schools, long night chats with friends and persisting hot sun or heavy rain. But, undeniably, also the public side of the festival - procession and concerts - is a wonderful culmination of the festival.

Raamat „#Laulupidu 2017“ annab 350 foto kaudu võimaluse tutvuda XII Eesti noorte laulu- ja tantsupeonädala n-ö kaadritaguse eluga. Loomulikult on peo avalik külg – rongkäik ja kontserdid − suurepärane kulminatsioon, kuid Läti fotograaf Mārtiņš Kālis, kes on sarnaseid fotoprojekte teinud ka oma kodumaal, usub, et tõelise kogemuse laulu- ja tantsupeost saab igapäevastest proovidest, koolides elamisest, pikkadest öistest jutuajamistest ning ilmataadi meeleolude trotsimisest.
