The Spring Lake Collection is an anthology book that is jointly produced by the Visual Art and English departments at Derry Area High School in Derry, Pennsylvania. The idea for this book project came from the desire to showcase the many talents of our students who may not always receive the spotlight that they deserve. Our community, and our schools in particular, have many people with talents that may not be obvious at first glance. As teachers, we often see successes by our students every day that may never have another opportunity to be celebrated. This book is a chance for some of those talents to shine and to give students an opportunity to have their efforts rewarded with a professionally produced publication.



The annual publication is designed to feature some of the best of our students’ original writing and artwork. These works are submitted by both students and teachers and are juried for entry. The selected works are then presented in various professional formats, including a full-color book, available in both hardbound and softcover editions. The non-profit books are for sale to the public at a nominal cost; any proceeds that might be generated would benefit student activities or student-supported charities at the high school.
