About the Book
In late 2019 Chile erupted in protest against the ongoing inequality that has plagued the nation since it dragged itself out of a brutal dictatorship 30 years prior. As demonstrators took to the streets, the state responded with ever more authoritarian tactics leading to international condemnation. Human rights organizations reported the widespread brutality at the hands of authorities, including murders, torture, and sexual abuse. Conflicted: Chile shows the reality on the streets of Santiago as journalist CH Gardiner covers the fighting from the front.
