    About the Book

    Edit

On assignment for TransWorld snowboarding magazine in Japan I was given the opportunity to photograph Jake Burton and a host of Burton Snowboards team riders. The idea was the lineage of the current team would ride with Jake over the course of a few days. The images in this book however took place in one evening over the course of 4 hours. Shot in black and white on a snowy night. Jake Burton recently passed away on November 20, 2019. He was the founder of Burton Snowboards and the Godfather of modern day snowboarding. Proceeds for this book will be going to charity.

HELLO!! A bit about me.......retired snowboard photographer. Referred to as a man-child fairly regularly. Enjoy sports that require snow, surf and cement. Have narrowly escaped helicopter crashes in New Zealand, Argentina and Russia. Learned patience and a healthy work ethic from pops. Most people don't believe me when I tell them my age. The scar on my arm is not from a shark attack, knife fight or a burn, so if you want the real story be prepared to be underwhelmed. Made a living in high school building skateboard ramps. I usually have a few painted toe nails . Have zero tendon or ligament in my right thumb. I draw inspiration from Terence Malick, Native American "Indian" Nickels, color harmony, the french words Joie De Vivre, riding powder and most importantly my son Julian.
