About the Book
One thing us developers universally share is that we seemingly have
NO TIME!
We are often flat out coding away on projects and our own health is usually the least of our priorities. Because we need long stretches of time to get anything done, we often resort to snacking on junk food, processed food, frozen food, energy drinks, and take out.
Why?
Partly out of convenience, partly because we get a short term kick from sugary treats and possibly because it’s part of the coding culture dating back to the scary amounts of soft-drink consumed in the Netscape office in 1999.
The problem with these eating habits is that they negatively effect your concentration and productivity far more than you might think or can predict. Additionally, if I asked you how eating chips and snack bars will impact your health in 5 years, even if you went to train as a dietitian, it’s still impossible to give an accurate answer. Exposing your body to bad eating habits is like treating your health as a “magic” black-box function with no idea what exceptions it could throw. You don’t accept black-box functions in your code, so why would you accept them in your body?
This book is here to give you quick and instant healthy snack options you can stock up on which are just as tasty, easy to find and as convenient as their junk-food counterparts - they are often cheaper as well! Snacks in this book achieve the complete opposite to junk food, increasing your ability to execute, concentrate, and be productive. Any type of craving you have, nature has an answer for. Every snack in this book is both natural and super convenient. Each snack has been chosen meticulously based on its high nutritional value, and convenience.
SNACK_n_CODE is designed to be a purely practical companion that you can search through whilst shopping and use as a reference for whenever you need it. Investing in your health is a high-leverage productivity activity, just as high as writing shell scripts!
