There was a big boom In contemporary art in Dallas in the 1970s. Young artists, jaded by the status quo of the Dallas museum and gallery systems, created their own cooperative, artist-run galleries in large buildings and lofts in the Fair Park area, which would later bloom into what is known today as Deep Ellum.
