The Dismantling is an ode to falling apart and letting go. Through her poetry and photography, Poonam Desai honors the beauty and creative power that lies in the deconstructing, the molting of a person.

Through the metaphor of deconstruction and reconstructing, she takes us through the many facets of this process: when things have fallen into a state of disrepair, when we must implode in order to start anew, when we excavate to find the foundation and figure out what to keep, repairing and reconstructing according to the blueprints we want to see come to reality, and honoring the hallowed space created anew from the rubble.
