In this book, I revisit the sites of historic photographs of Tonbridge and contrast scenes of the past with the present day. Images of the past offer us a sense of continuity; and at a time when change seems to be escalating at an ever increasing rate, I wanted to bring about a moment of pause and reflection, and a link with the world as it once was. I began to realise that images of the past are more than nostalgic indulgence. For many, they are a life-line that enables the present to be negotiated and understood. The proceeds from this book will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Society.
