    About the Book

Imagine that you were a child refugee and had to leave your home and your memories behind? What would you take with you? Our young protagonist has to decide how many of his favourite toys, books, board games, and family pictures he could fit in his only suitcase. But leaving his beloved pet dog Emma behind is one of the hardest things for him to do. Struggling with the idea of introducing the topic of refugees to your little ones? 'Goodbye, Emma' is your book! It helps them relate to the hardships of children fleeing war and torture as it tells the story of a child refugee who is forced to leave behind his pet when his family flees the country. This book is based on a true story. Documentary makers of a documentary 'Faraway Land' came across 'Goodbye, Emma' book in the home of a refugee family when doing the research for their film in Athens. The first lines from the book became the film's title. And the film opens up with a narrator reading 'Goodbye, Emma'. We are thankful to the filmmakers of "Faraway Land" for featuring our book in their film which won multiple awards.'Goodbye, Emma' is the first book authored by Julie G Fox and published by Clever Fox Press charitable publishing company. Clever Fox Press was founded in 2015 in response to the refugee crisis in many parts of the world (Syria and Ukraine among others). All the proceeds from sales of Clever Fox Press books (we now have more than 50 titles) are donated to charities supporting child refugees and children fighting life-threatening illnesses. We would be grateful if you would support us with your donation.

Julie G. Fox is an author and the founder of Clever Fox Press. Julie's first book 'Goodbye, Emma' told the story of a boy. This book (which is still Julie's bestseller!) Was based on a true story as Julie and her brothers were refugees themselves. The proceeds from the sale of 'Goodbye, Emma' as well as all other books Julie has been donated to charities. The first hundred copies of the 'Goodbye, Emma' book were shipped to refugee camps in Greece, Canada and Germany. After 'Goodbye, Emma' came out Julie felt that she had too many stories locked up in her head, and these stories had to somehow reach more children. She decided to connect with artists, illustrators and writers in the countries, troubled by wars and economic problems, to encourage those talented and creative individuals who lacked a platform for their difficult homelands. Clever Fox Press which was founded by Julie in the early 2016 has been written and produced 20 more books with more projects on the way.
