About the Book
In the summer of 2009 my goddaughter was getting married near Lisbon. This provided us with the excuse to explore Portugal for the first time, and to visit northern Spain - in particular, to make a pilgrimage to Bilbao to see Frank Gehry's Guggenheim Museum. And to spend some time in Madrid, a city I had always enjoyed, but which Lisa had never visited.



Our travels exceeded our expectations. We both fell in love with Portugal, discovered gems such as Obidos, Batalha and Burgos, and adored the Guggenheim. One of our best European itineraries ever.
