'Interpretations and Associations' is the first book by artist Jesse Wiles. The book consists of photographs that have been randomly paired with quotes. All of the photographs are black and white and were taken between 2013 and 2018. The quotes were either read or overheard and recorded by Wiles from 2016 to 2018.

The random pairing of quotes to photographs was a purposeful attempt by Wiles to remove himself from the work and allow the viewer to create a highly personalized narrative between each pairing of photograph and quote. 'Interpretations and Associations' was inspired by the unique influence that a few words can have on an individual and by the universal power to evoke emotion that a black and white photograph has.
