About the Book
Created during a self-imposed creative sabbatical, this collection of photo essays and writings reflect on the author's time spent living in rural Japan–a time she would later come to call THE YEAR OF QUIET. Centered on the island of Kyushu, much of the imagery focuses on Japan's lesser-known areas, all while asking the question: "What does it mean to be other?"
