About the Book
But one artist is making use of these obsolete technologies by turning them into art.
Nicholas Gentry takes discarded tech and makes something to preserve an important historical moment.
The artist hopes his work helps to communicate the feeling of time passing, which he thinks is a "really difficult thing to describe" with words alone.
Nick Gentry is a British graduate of Central St Martins and has exhibited in the UK, USA and Europe. As part of a generation that grew up surrounded by floppy disks, VHS tapes, polaroids and cassettes, he is inspired by the sociological impact of a new internet culture.
