CARBON Installation at The Dennos Museum. 2009.
The CARBON project is a photographic exploration into abstraction and the unknown. It combines my interest in the aesthetics of space exploration, microscopic discovery and abstract symbols. I am intrigued by the idea that so much of our expanding scientific knowledge is based on images from beyond our normal scope of vision.
As an artist I am exploring a duality where images that appear highly scientific and real are in fact fictional constructions. The ‘photographs’ in the CARBON project are made from negatives utilizing a unique carbon based emulsion of my invention.
This book shows the first large scale CARBON installation, which included photographic works up to ten by sixty feet, along with projected HD video animations and surround sound.
