A five-year old girl visits a haunted dollhouse she discovers in the Meridian Park in Washington, DC. In six visits over the course of a year, she enters Calm Down Corner to meet its tiny inhabitants and learn what they have to share. She meets a fortune-teller, a witch, a mermaid, a sorceress, two ghosts and a skeleton who lives in a closet. With the lessons she learns there, she finds her own way home.
