Jay Fitzpatrick, East Andover NH Back in the mid-1960s, when he was in high school, Jay Fitzpatrick saw a photograph of a bullet caught in mid-flight, sharp as a tack, after it had pierced an apple. Exploding apple pulp was similarly captured as it flew from both the entry and exit wounds. The background was a graduated deep blue. The apple was red and yellow. The next day he subscribed to Popular Photography magazine and ordered his first 35-mm camera, an Olympus OM-1, which still works to this day. In his 20s, Jay worked as a newspaper photographer and darkroom technician. But after moving into reporting and editing, he gave up serious photography for 30 years. Ten years ago, he bought his first digital camera and attended photography classes at the New Hampshire Art Institute. In recent years, he has received numerous awards in local photography competitions, and sells his work at art shows, local galleries and through his website, jayfitzpatrick.smugmug.com.
