About the Book
Tulsa blurs the line between a place you want to be and a place you want to leave. A disgusting history of racial violence, thriving conservative values, and a sprawling city layout that seems to be designed to segregate our neighborhoods and communities is more than enough to warrant a “glass half empty” outlook. However, a new idea is beginning to take shape and it will be carried through the Bible Belt on the backs of young artists with a vision. This issue offers you a glimpse into the not so distant future; an obtainable future that our artistic community must create for itself in order to function at its highest level. A creative community that is not segregated by race, gender, income, or sexual orientation. A community that is determined to break down the barriers that divide and build platforms that unite under the idea that everyone should have the opportunity to express themselves. When inclusivity is at the forefront of our endeavors, we will create our greatest work, and in the minds of those who are uncertain about their place in Tulsa’s artistic community, the vision will be clear.
