This beautiful book of poems and paintings by Kenneth Fuentes and poems by Silvina Albert-Fuentes chronicles the extraordinary love that flowed between them when they first met in 1975, through their tragic separation for ten years, and then unexpected and joyful reunion in 1985. Once again picking up the thread of their soul mate journey together they wove tapestries of poems and paintings through fifteen years of wedded happiness until Kenneth’s death in July 2000. Silvina’s poems after Kenneth’s passing rage against the cruelty and horror of this final separation and mine the bottomless depths of grief and loss. Somehow the bright colours and elegant lines in Kenneth’s paintings have a surreal, calming and healing effect, and the reader, having passed through an inferno of love and loss feels redeemed by Albert-Fuentes’s final poem, “Thankful.”
