In ‘Faces & Crafts of Kinvara’ Markus Voetter displays ten local artisans in stunning black&white and coloured images, giving insight into the working community of Kinvara, Co. Galway in Ireland. After spending time with each of the artisans, he delivered on his objective to authentically capture the craftspeople in powerful, unstaged portraits in their everyday work environment. His aim is to reveal and promote some of the traditional professions to be found in Kinvara; to document their individual skills, and to inspire with his work, for new generations to continue these local crafts. This book was created as part of Ireland’s ‘Culture Night 2017’. A selection of photographs from this book form part of my ongoing exhibitions at various venues around Ireland.
