    About the Book

    Edit

There is only one way of describing the city or Palermo: past and present rise from its walls, towers and chapels. The city represents the relationships between its space and the events of its past. Pallermo tells a story about its ancestors.
    Viva Palermo e Santa Rosalia!
The Feast of Santa Rosalia is the most authentic and striking spectacle in Palermo. The Feast comes from the story of a miracle. The main purpose of the celebration is to thank and worship the patron of the city Saint Rosalia. According to local faith, in 1624 she saved the city’s residents from a dreadful plague, after her relics were found in Monte Pellegrino.
The Feast starts on the 10th of July, but only during the night between the 14th and the 15th reaches its peak. Thousand of people follow the Parade leaded by a giant iron made chariot, from the Cathedral to the Foro Italico.
Saint Rosalia and its worship are a chance for resident to get together. Their motto is Hurray to Palermo and to Saint Rosalia! Viva Palermo e Santa Rosalia!
