    About the Book

    Edit

In the Southwestern United States, settlers have long been seduced by the desert’s capacious horizons and fragile beauty. Often, they end up defeated by the intense heat, bone-dry terrain and maddening isolation. The abandoned buildings, vehicles and artifacts of a once hopeful past are steadily deteriorating in the unforgiving climate- simultaneously depleted, yet majestically audacious in their quiet desolation.
DESERT OBLIVION, a book of photographs by Andy Willinger, exposes these sites not only as vibrant, ephemeral artworks of minimal beauty, but as testament to the impact on nature by humanity.
