    About the Book

    Edit

This book is an illustrative poetry book that tackles many of America's difficult topics such as race, poverty, crime, drugs, and more importantly love. There is a simplicity and innocence to the writing and yet it carries with it a strength and honesty that is very appealing. One cannot help but to get caught up in each story's unique tragedy and joy such as "I'm Just Like You" where a young boy goes through so many disadvantages and comes across a book that ultimately changes his life. I believe this book can also do just that, change one's way of thinking and influence one's life. The watercolor paintings that accompany each poem also evoke a sense of cohesiveness throughout the storyline. You too will come to believe as many others do already, that this country's flag holds more colors than red, white and blue.
