There is something about trains that excites and kindles a sense of adventure in many of us. This book tries to visually capture that sense of wonder and excitement as it looks at some of the history of railways on display at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, Illinois. Following the Civil War the railways transformed the United States from an agrarian to an industrial society and united the nation as never before.
