For a long time I saw photography and my pursuit of it as an escape from the world: it was a way in which I could explore my surroundings without the distractions of everyday life. Elliot Erwitt wrote “…photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place…I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them” Amidst my escape I have been able to find meaning and intrigue for seemingly ordinary things, I have been able to portray who I am through the intricacies of the world in which we live, and I have come to know the profound importance of perspective. For me photography has become much more than an escape, it has developed and matured into a passion where my thoughts and ideas are able to give life to the ordinary and infuse vibrancy and meaning into the stillness of an image.
