Memories of the author's childhood in the Philippines, 1929-1948. Jose' was born on Culion Island, Palawan and moved to Manila shortly before the Japanese invasion. His family lived through the Japanese occupation and the Battle of Manila. These memories include his travels and adventures as a Merchant Marine, before he settled in the U.S. in the 1950's.
