    About the Book

    Edit

In Aperture Wise - Ray Galea's first fine art photography book - he selected from his work a volume featuring Australian geographic themes including: scenic, nature, architectural, fauna and flora. The author's most reliable tool when photographing the environment is his own impression or awareness about a location.

Time is also one of Ray Galea's most valuable resources - every hour offers a different type of light and each subject is affected by the changing light in its own distinct way. This Australian photographer utilises this shifting illumination to translate certain attributes into these pictures which ultimately stimulate more feelings than visions alone.

An environmentalist and adventurer, the author enjoys exploring forests, beaches, sandstone terrain, rivers, jungle as well as vineyards and urbanised heritage sites with a camera and appropriate lens. His aim in Aperture Wise has been to show the natural world and a few architectural themes, almost as if humans did not exist in it.

    Ray Galea
    Neutral Bay, Australia

Ray Galea's fascination for photography began with browsing through the images in National Geographic magazines when he was 10 years old, and that left a lasting legacy. In his own words: "Photography is integral to my consciousness. The greatest satisfaction comes from those unique moments of discovery when an image expands the boundaries of my vision and technique."
