    About the Book

    Edit

It is often said that "...a picture is worth one thousand words." Every day nature provides many moments that are worth so much more. In real life I am a physician, a cancer specialist. My patients have taught me about living each day to the fullest and approaching life with dignity, passion, and endless spirit; I strive hard to capture that emotion and energy in my work with myeloma clinical research as well as in my photographs. My encounters with many special patients help me realize that “we” should really “live” every moment. This book is my attempt to capture moments that left me without words and translate them onto a canvas. In my photographs I try to use my vision to translate these speechless moments into at least one emotion, and hopefully many more, for the viewer. May these and the rest of your moments be worth at least 1000 words. Carpe Diem.

By day I'm a doctor - a cancer researcher... by night I am an insomniac. I love to "live" and will do almost anything once. My patients have taught me about living each day to the fullest and approaching life with endless spirit; I strive hard to capture that emotion and energy in my work with myeloma clinical research as well as in my photographs. I have been fortunate to travel to many places but I truly "find" myself when I am surrounded by nature ……and happily "lose" myself when I am doing something adrenaline-packed like hang-gliding, bungy jumping, running or diving. I will do almost anything to spend a day on the beach, or better yet, on the edge! What's really important to me as a photographer is living a moment and trying to capture an emotion in a photograph that brings at least 1 word, and hopefully many more, to mind. If this brings a smile or thought to life, then I will have accomplished what I set out to do.
