Chaim Goldberg has been hailed as the visual chronicler of Kazimierz Dolny's Jewish life, the artist's colors and compositions speak of a childhood deeply rooted in the pre-World War II way of life in the many villages of eastern Europe. Chaim Goldberg was discovered on a brisk day in October, 1931 (when he was 14 years old) by a well traveled psychiatrist who was conducting his research for a book on Jewish family mannerisms in the shtetls of eastern Europe.

This book traces his life and one of the themes that have stayed with the artist throughout his life - his beloved village (shtetl), the charming Kazimierz-Dolny. The book highlights the two most recognizable aspects of the artist's work. It "leaves much on the table" as far as his work, sufficient material for over 6 additional books.
