About the Book
In April 2016, Ms. Ivy Lin, Curator of Oil Street Art Space (Oi!) in Hong Kong and I started a conversation on the possibility of collaboration. After several meetings, I put forward a proposal. The idea is to kill time in the premises of oi! and its surrounding neighbourhood without a specific purpose. The unproductive time I spent is rewarded with an artist fee. This book works as timesheets that logged down the date and time I contributed. An excerpt of the agreement describes the collaboration, the condition and the task to be fulfilled.

Silas Fong (b.1985, Hong Kong) is a contemporary artist who works with video, photography and installation. Through delicate observation, he discovers and documents the overlooked details in daily life. He tries to retain his own pace and time with these documents to understand himself better. In such way the artist transforms his trivials into mental experience that reminds the audience of their own experience and questions certain values promoted by the society. Fong has presented his works in Goethe-Institut Hongkong, Hong Kong Museum of Art, Alternative Space Loop Seoul, Taipei Soka Art Center, City Gallery Wellington, ZKM, Saatchi Gallery London, Liverpool Biennial 2010, Seoul International New Media Festival 2011, Dresden Cynetart 2013, Microwave International New Media Festival 2013 and Animamix Biennale 2016.
