    About the Book

    Edit

Dina Cangi was born in Arezzo, where she lives and works. After receiving her high school diploma she has devoted her time to art, practicing with an assiduous research of colors, lights, surfaces and materials, the practice of painting. She is impassioned by anthropology and archeology: she particularly appreciates the Etruscan civilization as well as that of the Orient with an interest in their philosophies and cultural presuppositions. An involvement that testifies her appreciation for tradition and for the cultures of the past, that Dina has the tendency to recover, filter and return to through certain suggestions in her works, with the eyes and the heart of one whom lives as an activist the art of her own contemporaneity. For years "figurative" painting prevails in her art, but research is at the base of her work and in the time it has evolved more to "material" painting: she attended the studio of great Italian artists (De Gregorio, Coccetta, Minestrini), artists from which she learned the "umbra" technique. For a long time she applied on her works the received teachings, personalizing and realizing an absolutely individual style of her own.
For some years, she painted experimenting with acrylic color, and canvases of large dimensions, devoting herself to the research of chromes and very intense lights, inspired and fascinated by images coming from space as well as those which the most advanced technology sends us. Her works,of various dimensions, have been realized over the oards and plastics, preferring the use of oil. In the last few years, in fact, she has been inspired by astronomy and devotes her time to the study of astrophysics, seeking colors and images to transfer to her canvases, beginning a new cycle devoted to the universe. Her preceeding works can be gathered in four cycles: "Poetic projections", "Lunar Enchantment", "Nighttime", "Chromatic Emotions."
