    About the Book

    Edit

From Santa Monica to Downtown Los Angeles and The Fairfax District to Vernon, LA based photographer, Louis "Kengi" Carr, covers it all. Pieces of Me is raw LA street photography uniquely captured and shared by a true Angeleno with stories and conversations accompanying certain images that leave you wanting more. This book brilliantly shows aspects of life in Los Angeles with great compassion and respect from the lens of an insider. Kengi, as he is called by his friends, is a Los Angeles native, born and raised in the city of Santa Monica. This formerly homeless activist and community organizer is a staple on many celebrity red carpets, a contributor with Getty Images and has shot many editorial photographs along with two national magazine covers, but it's the "real life" of street photography where he'd rather spend his time capturing the heart and soul of the City of Angels. The book also features an introduction written by Allen Hemmelgarn of Canada, which perfectly lends itself to the wandering, individual, free spirit of Kengi and his style of photography. Pieces of Me is sure to make you a fan of his eclectic style.
