    About the Book

    Edit

How the Kaaterskill clove and the tiny hamlet of Palenville New York inspired fifty years of creative image making for one would-be artisan of contemporary time. The Kaaterskill was the favored stumping ground of the Hudson Rive School artists of the19th Century. The author makes the case that it is the birth place of American Culture and then links the movement to another American development of the20th century: Abstract Expressionism.
Laced into the biopic writing are paintings, photographs, prints and poetry...And, as the author suggests: the images are pregnant of consequence in their purposive ambiguity.

    Palenville NY

Though permanently installed in Palenville since the mid-70s the author's works have been exhibited internationally since the seventies. Whereas the media employed is eclectic the subject matter is centered on the human event, be it from the realities of the space one walk in or ethereal to the realms of psyche or spirit...Predominantly an image-maker (painting and photography) over the last fifty years with an early affinity for the Hudson River School which unfolded into the more Modern concerns for abstraction in the mid-80s. Much of the imagery presented is of a 'Questioning' nature. And the newer platform of writing follows; hopefully in its Purposive Ambiguity the readers will have occasion to extend the exploration with their own.
