    About the Book

    Edit

The great novelist Joseph Conrad said that the first and foremost duty of a writer is to make his reader "see" the story he or she is trying to tell. That has been my most deeply held conviction as a writer and filmmaker. In his piece, “Grand-mere,” poet Bernard Pearce paints a beautiful portrait from memory of our beloved Bayou Teche. He demonstrates Conrad's point, bringing to focus in the mind's eye a singularly special place. Pearce exemplifies that marvelous ability to conjure a mental image in the mind's eye of his reader.

Charles Richard, Professor of English - University of Louisiana at Lafayette
This is my first collection of poetry, the subject matter is mostly about family, Louisiana, and my childhood. I've included photos and art that I've created in the book as well. I hope you enjoy the collection!
