    About the Book

    Edit

The osprey is a large fish-eating bird of prey which migrates to the UK in the spring to breed then returns south to Africa in late August or September for the winter. It is one of the most widespread birds of prey and can be found on every continent except Antarctica. The International Union for Conservation of Nature has Osprey listed as being of Conservation Concern; though it is not an endangered species worldwide they are under threat in Europe and became virtually extinct in the UK in the early 20th century. Ospreys when hunting are a picture of concentration as they dive dramatically with feet outstretched and their yellow eyes sighting straight along their talons…….. then splash! An amazing sight: one that many of us finding captivating and enthralling. Photographing this wonderful bird, and in the process learning so much about its behaviour is a wonderful experience. I hope that previewing this book and seeing the photograph’s of this beautiful bird will enable you to share in this excitement. Please be aware that the electronic versions of the book require a suitable size screen to be able to read the text and captions clearly and obtain a better previewing experience.
