About the Book
A light hearted photo story of a dog lost and a dog found. Inspired by dozens of posters stuck to all manner of street furniture and prominent exposition adverts during the 2014 Rencontre d'Arles Festival. Je cherche mon chien (I am searching for my dog) sparked the photographer's imagination into producing a series of images with this lost doggy narrative. The images of dogs were not consciously taken. They happened purely by chance and were found randomly amongst the artists burgeoning gallimaufry of digital image files. Batchelor's photographic output can be described as being random, spontaneous, abstract and sometimes humorously banal. His approach to image making is one of pure open mindedness as he rarely goes out foraging for pictures with any set idea or plan. Not knowing what is around the next corner fuels his passion for his predominantly urban/ street scenes and this is reflected in this candid canine account.
