ON THIS SIDE OF THE LAGOON is a Portfolio of Black and White images shot in the last years of ‘900 in Clodia, the litthe sister of Venice placed on the southern border of the same lagoon.

The Chapter MIST and SALT try to report the winter atmosphere of this old town with its canals, bridges and the charming narrow streets. THE PEOPLE shows the every day life of the people, mainly fishermen, going ahead following a centuries-old tradition. THE FISHERMEN regards to the hard work of fishing in high sea and THE PATRON SAINTS concerns the celebration of the Patron Saints Festivity where the deep bond between the joint community and the sea becomes clear.

I was born in Venice in 1947. After working and teaching as a cardiologist at the University of Padova, at present I am retired and I live in Padova. I have been always an amateur of photography, but only now I can spend enough time on it. After a number of international publications on cardiology, this is my first publication on photography. I like reportage, architecture and landscape photography. Although well trained in digital photography, nevertheless I have returned to the traditional black and white film which I enjoj to develop and print in my new darkroom at home.
