    About the Book

    Edit

In the middle of winter, three men took the plunge into the unknown and navigated their way through roadless deserts, past people with guns, the notorious Khyber Pass and through lands where ‘normal’ traffic rules don’t apply.
They went beyond ordinary friendship and imagination, traveling un-assisted through dangerous and confronting un-knowns.

They experienced diverse culture, humour, language architecture and scenery, along with extreme weather and roads (the cause of many crashes and scooter overhauls).

If there is one book you should read on motor scooter travel, this is it, ‘ Germany to Australia by Heinkel Motor Scooter’ (find out why ‘Wolfram never made it to Darwin’) is a riveting and humorous account written by someone who did it.

    Townsville QLD Australia

From a young age Bob learnt how to live off the land, and, in the days when there was no crocodile insurance in the Northern Territory, how to catch a croc with your bare hands! Bob’s adventurous spirit has taken him, as a Queen Scout and mad keen sportsman, across the Northern Territory on foot and on bush tracks in his Austin A40. Bob and his mates survived a never to be repeated motor scooter trip from Germany to Australia via the Khyber Pass. Emma (wife) and Bob have canoed most rivers of the world and flown around Australia in light aircraft installing sustainable energy systems in remote communities and Stations bigger than some countries in Europe. The spirit of people and the places they live in, continue to inspire Bob.
