In what way does the building we are intervening in influence the outcome of the design process? And do specific building characteristics lead to different design solutions than others? This research aims to find an answer to these questions. In this report following research question is answered: “Which existing building characteristics influence the housing retrofitting possibilities?”. The research uncovers a set of twelve characteristics each influencing the design in their own way.
