    About the Book

    Edit

The development of human technological civilization has perverted our fundamental perception of and primal relationship to the world. This misperception can be interpreted as the root cause of humanity’s unremitting degradation of the planetary ecology. By inverting technology, we can begin to counter the spatial and temporal disembedding and technological mastery through the creation of compensatory spaces in the world, outside of these frameworks, that begin to change this relationship. Thus, architecture’s new role, as one of our most primal technologies, must be to remediate our spatio-temporal understanding of the world, and to promote a greater consciousness of and engagement with the dynamic complexity of the planetary ecology. When reconnecting humanity to its environment, architecture can shatter the habitual ways of seeing and experiencing, allowing us to experience the true depth and dynamism of our local and global environments.
