About the Book
The Dictionary of Modern Architecture by Last Hope Publications was created to explain architecture’s evolution through the influences of the Industrial Revolution and modern schools of art. More specifically, it focuses on the era of architecture birthed from the the marriage of the advent of modern technologies like the railroad and assembly line to differing philosophies born from the global wars of the world.
The dictionary uses a combination of major people, styles, and technologies that contributed to architecture’s progression in the modern age. Architects and designers are outlined in blue while ideas and styles are red. Material and construction methods are yellow. With these three categories, these terms seek to act as a guide to explain the key elements and biggest influences of “modern” design through twenty-six episodic entries, one for each letter of the alphabet.
