Do we really “see” one another, and if so do we recognize who it is we’re really taking in? If so, are we truly able to articulate the words we want to share, or are we entrenched in a language of shortcomings and assumptions, missing the truth all together? These are the questions Steve Beck’s sculptures attempt to address. Using found objects and representational bronze, his intimate art stages conversations around issues that seemingly trod along, unchecked. Art Center of Design trained, and bred as an award-winning director in the film industry, Steve has spent his career creating imagery that conveys conversation. Now, he feels, it’s time for more human moments to bubble to the surface, moments that for better words, lack the proper sculpture.
