    About the Book

    Edit

We333 can be seen as a singular piece of work as well as 333 individual pieces.
It is, in many ways, a time capsule that represents the nature of human interactions in a digital age, each painted portrait taken from my friends and family's photos on Facebook.
From the outset I initiated the We 333 project specifically for us all to experience the journey, and as with any journey into the unknown, I had no idea of the terrain we would travel and the mental landscapes I personally would visit as I sat, day after day, in front of yet another series of blank canvases.
This artwork, alongside the digital screen representations, is the result of 3 years of thought and 3 months of production.
Now complete, the singular work can be imagined as a capsule of 333 people unified into 1!
I hope the artwork will live until the last one within the group passes away, and from there on it will document a small part of our shared human experience, of now.

    Jonathan Mitton
    UK

Jonathan Mitton is a visionary multidisciplinary artist whose four-decade career spans holographic art, AI-assisted creation, 3D imaging, and multimedia installations. Graduating with distinction from the RCA's MA in Art Holography (1992), he consistently pushes boundaries between traditional practice and cutting-edge technology. Recent projects include "Artificial" at Gallery 286 (2024), merging painting with AI to create "visual algorithms" for psychological exploration; the kaleidoscopic Metamorph series exploring consciousness states; and his Terribleist aesthetic—deliberately embracing imperfection to counter consumer perfectionism. Exhibited internationally at Barbican Art Gallery, Art Miami, and Pompidou Centre. Inventor of the patented Mitton Linear Rail 1. Work held in Jonathan Ross Collection, London. "In Jon's work the concept is predominant. Ideas matter to him." - Jonathan Ross
