    About the Book

    Edit

ALL PROFITS GO TO ROYAL MARSDEN HOSPITAL, CANCER RESEARCH:

In 2005 the existence of 4000 pairs of emperor penguins, the most charismatic and beautiful of all penguins, was confirmed at a previously unknown site near Snow Hill Island in the Northern Peninsula of Antarctica.

In November 2008 I joined an Expedition to visit Snow Hill on the Russian Icebreaker Kapitan Khlebnikov, which is the only vessel capable of penetrating the thick ice of the Weddell Sea so early in the season. On board we were lucky to not only have an extraordinary team of polar experts but also members of the BBC Planet Earth team, and wildlife photographers’ Jonathan and Angie Scott – probably best known for BBC ‘Big Cat Diary’. I was lucky to join Jonathan Scott in Africa in 2005 for a most memorable African Safari in the Mara, and it was great to share this trip with him – his passion and enthusiasm is infectious.

This is a journal of my amazing trip, told mainly through photographs, with some interesting information along the way.

I had to 'get fit' for this trip of a lifetime, and in doing so managed to raise over £1,000 through sponsorship for The Royal Marsden Hospital Cancer Research and would like to thank all the lovely people that helped me raise this money for such an excellent cause.

If you are kind enough to buy my book, any profits will go to The Royal Marsden Hospital, Cancer Research.

    Happy Reading !! :-)

I have an interest in photography and have a computer full of photographs from my trips around the world, the most exciting being to the Masai Mara in Africa and my epic trip to Antarctica, to photograph the Emperor Penguins in their habitat, Snow Hill Island on a Russian Icebreaker. Whilst the Penguins were wonderful, the scenery and environment was spectacular. I decided to put a book together of my photographs as a journal / momento of my trip, and have dedicated it to my father. Any profits from the book will go to The Royal Marsden Hospital, Cancer Research, which I hold dear to my heart. I may produce a book on Africa and the Mara. I was lucky on both trips to share time with Jonathan Scott from the BBC - best know for Big Cat Diary, whose passion for wildlife is infectious! - and I would encourage everyone to go to Africa and Antarctica ! I think producing books could become addictive !!
