Because I understand how light works, and how a camera interprets light, I do not use Photoshop or ay photo retouching software. All of my photos are what comes directly out of the camera. The only exceptions are that I use Adobe Bridge to review photos, select those that I like and to add metadata to the digital file, and when I am composing an advertisement that requires text or any blending, I will use the Adobe suite of tools. I do not do any photo retouching. I feel that a potential client should look at a photographer’s work and reasonably assume that what they are seeing is based upon the photographers skills. Displaying retouched or manipulated photographs with any photo manipulation software is somewhat deceptive. Hiring that photographer might not produce the expected results, as the customer assumes that they are looking at the work of the photographer – not the Photoshopographer.
