On the 12 July 2014, the Loyal Orange Order paraded in the Co Armagh town of Markethill to commemorate King William III's victory over King James during one of the great wars of the European Enlightenment when forces of absolute monarchs supported by the Church in Rome confronted anti-establishment, reformation movements in England, Germany and England. King Williams victory at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690 is celebrated each year by the Unionist, Protestant population of Northern Ireland within a cultural, politico, militaristic fashion that is unique throughout Western Europe.
