About the Book
This book is a companion to Who I Was I Am Not Now
When Dan Wagner began developing his own film at the age of thirteen, he immediately realized he wanted to be a photographer.
Dan wandered the streets of Brooklyn, New York City, and Los Angeles searching for people and things that caught his eye.
The photos in this book were taken between 1970, when Dan began his journey towards becoming a photographer, and 1981, the year before he opened his first photo studio in New York City.
In 2014, when Dan revisited the photos he'd taken when he was younger, he said to hmself, "What I shot I shoot not now.”
