The Catalan folklore has many centuries of legends and tales that give an explanation and logic to the history of the country having vast amount of legends that forged the folk wisdom. Thanks to folklorists such as Joan Amades such treasures have reached and can be enjoyed nowadays.

Count Arnau is a legendary nobleman from the north of Catalonia (Ripolles) known for his infamous cruelty, lechery and friendship with the Devil and evil fairies, is now condemned to ride his demonic horse surrounded by fire in the shape of wolves for eternity while his flesh is devoured by flames.

His legend is the subject of series of classical traditional Catalan ballads, that have survived the passage of time, as far back as the 16th century.‏
