    About the Book

    Edit

In the early years of the 20th century in the then German colonial South West Africa an indigenous revolt was put down with meticulous savagery by the German commander in charge, Gen. von Trotha. Today it is a little know colonial episode, but in hindsight it displayed all of the ferocity of what was to come in the 1930s and 40s. In this photo book I have allowed von Trotha to narrate unapologetically through excerpts from his own brutal, proto-national socialist declarations, surrounded by archival images from both ca. 1900 DSWA and those of today's Namibia.
This book was entered and shortlisted at Kassel Fotobook Festival 2014 (http://2014.fotobookfestival.org).
